"I am among those who think that science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not only a technician: he is also a child placed before natural phenomena which impress him like a fairy tale."
Thank you for your interest in the SMART Living Materials Lab!
Our laboratory is always looking for highly motivated, collaborative, and passionate members who want to join a very creative environment. We are an interdisciplinary lab, so we are looking for people with various backgrounds, including molecular biology, biochemistry, synthetic biology, bioengineering, material science, different branches of engineering, and computing.
We are looking for various engineering students to assist with our research projects or work on independent projects during the academic year or the summer.
Interested students who want to join our lab and Department of Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech for M.S. and Ph.D., please contact Prof. Duraj-Thatte directly with a CV and contact information of two references.
If you are interested in joining our interdisciplinary lab and pushing the boundary of Engineered Living Materials, please contact Prof. Duraj-Thatte directly with a CV, a cover page summary of research background and future interest, and a list of three references.
We are also happy to help develop and prepare postdoctoral fellowship applications for various national and international programs.
